We love it when people ask us questions about our products, our sustainability work, or our passion to create the lowest carbon footprint plant-based milk in the category. It could also be other questions around taste, nutrition or anything else you have on your mind.
We can’t speak for everyone, but many Sproud drinkers describe the flavour as natural and creamy. No hint of peas.
We use rapeseed oil (aka non-GMO rapeseed oil in North America) for that silky-smooth texture. Scroll up to “Fats and Oils” for the in-depth version.
Nope, all Sproud products are 100% nut-free.
(Note: In North America, Sproud is produced in a facility that also makes almond milk, but thorough cleaning ensures no cross-contamination. In other markets, production takes place in nut-free facilities.)

Yep! All Sproud products are low in sugar, but if you’re watching your intake, Sproud Unsweetened or Sproud Barista Zero is your bestie with 0 g sugar. We’re proudly Sugarwise-certified, meaning every sugar claim is legit. That little Sugarwise logo? It’s your guarantee that we’re keeping things low, clean, and in line with WHO recommendations.
Not yet. We’re developing an organic version of Sproud. As we do, we carefully select ingredients that meet our key priorities: great taste, smooth texture, reliable performance in hot drinks and cooking, and a minimal climate footprint.
We start with humble yellow split peas, refining them to extract their pure pea protein isolate (the star ingredient). This protein is then blended with water, vegetable oils, vitamins, minerals, and just a pinch of salt to create our delicious plant-based drinks. The mixture is carefully homogenized under high pressure for that smooth, creamy texture you love, then quickly heated using ultra-high temperature (UHT) steam to keep it safe and fresh without sacrificing nutrients. Finally, it’s cooled and packed in aseptic packaging, locking in great taste, quality, and a long shelf life all ready for you to enjoy.
The food system stands for almost a third of all global emissions and Sproud constantly work towards keeping a low climate impact. We, at Sproud, track and measure our products’ climate impact using real primary data in collaboration with CarbonCloud. CarbonCloud is based on a biophysical model that has been developed during more than 20 years of scientific endeavours. Split peas are rich in proteins and contain a wide range of essential amino acids.
SUSTAINABLE AGRICULTURE
The pea plant has the amazing ability to fix atmospheric nitrogen in the soil through its symbiotic relationship with soil-borne bacteria. The nitrogen-fixing properties not only reduce nitrogen in the atmosphere but also improve soil fertility and the aggregation and conservation of water. Split peas also require less water, land, and energy than most other crops. By including peas in a crop rotation cycle, the yields, and energy efficiency increase up to 25% for years to come.

The split pea is rich in proteins and nutrients, reduces atmospheric nitrogen, and requires less non-renewable energy. Split peas also improve soil fertility, increase the farmland’s productivity, promote farm and soil biodiversity, and help keep harmful pests and diseases at bay without pesticides. Dipotassium Phosphate is a potassium salt. It is a natural mineral and we add Dipotassium Phosphate to our Unsweetened, Original, Barista and Vanilla products to regulate the pH (acidity). Without the Dipotassium Phosphate the product would curdle in coffee and tea as they generally have a low pH (pH <5) which causes a separation of the fat and liquid within pea m*lk. An acidity regulator is therefore an essential addition in plant-based m*lk alternatives if they are aimed to be used in coffee, tea or for cooking.
Many acidity regulators can be used in foods. We have chosen an acidity regulator with characteristics that match our pea m*lk by adding natural minerals to the product while not affecting the smooth and neutral taste of our pea m*lk.
Dipotassium Phosphate is regarded as a safe additive to use in foods and is approved by EFSA (European food safety authority), FDA (U.S. Food and Drug Administration) and other similar authorities all around the world.
We do not add Dipotassium Phosphates to Sproud Chocolate products since cacao naturally has a similar ability to regulate the acidity in the product.

It is important for us that we provide you with great coffee with consistent taste over time. Since the quality of the coffee beans can differ from year to year and region to region due to environmental factors (i.e. weather conditions, such as the amount of rain, drought, amount of sun hours, yield etc.), the coffee beans are sourced from several different Fairtrade certified farms. Therefore our Fairtrade-certified coffee does not originate from one specific region. The beans are then mixed together until we receive our specific characteristic preference.
